Massage Therapy in Bellingham, WA
Hello and welcome to the Bodywork Wellness Studio! I’m Katelyn, the owner, operator, and Chief Massage Therapist! The Studio is a long-time dream of mine come true. I have spent years cultivating what I believe is the best massage and bodywork practice of all time. While that may be a stretch, I truly do love what I do and love that I get to help so many people come back from injury and maintain an active, pain-free life.
The Studio is nestled in the corner of a beautiful historic building in Fairhaven, a small and beautiful neighborhood in Bellingham, WA. Here, I practice Massage Therapy, complete with cupping, fascial lengthening, Swedish Gymnastics (a fancy and technical form of stretching), abdominal massage, deep tissue work, and all-around glorious bodywork.
My body of work has been designed through a long educational journey. I received my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at Western Washington University. There I found a fascination for movement and fascia. I then worked as a personal trainer and eventually went to Massage School. Since completing my certificate in massage, I have catered my massage education to working with nerved and fascially unwinding stuck nerves. I have also homed in on deep tissue work for athletes, and gate analysis. My most recent branch of massage education is in abdominal massage. Abdominal massage is amazing, and I truly believe everyone can benefit from it. It’s amazing the restrictions we have in organs and how that affects our entire movement patterns. I specifically became curious about abdominal massage when a long-time client was having pelvic floor pain and nerve pain radiating down her leg. After seeing a lot of specialists and therapists, she finally discovered that scar tissue around her organs from a very old and long forgotten about surgery had pushed against her spine and angered her nerves. I was not the therapist who discovered this, but ever since then I was hooked on learning everything I could about this.
Between my work with fascia, movement, and aligning body systems, I feel like I have concocted a well-rounded approach to massage therapy.
I am the right fit for you? If you are looking for a relaxation massage and to zen out, probably not. Yes, you will feel relaxed and blissed out but my massage approach is interactive and I come with a “heavy hand”. I’m here to get you moving properly and efficiently.
